Lindsey and Daniel – part1: charming the sunset!

It’s about 7pm on Thursday May 13, just two days before Lindsey and Daniel’s wedding. Our plane landed in Albuquerque, NM just a few hours earlier after an adventurous journey from Philadelphia (but all ended well and we got there on time). We are in the car with our couple speeding through highways around Santa Fe (ok, not really speeding but trying to drive with a purpose!), doing our best to find the farm that was supposed to be our venue for this evening’s shoot. It’s getting a bit late and we’re starting to be concerned about loosing the light. We planned to start the shoot around 6:30, which would have given us about 90 minutes of the sweetest light of the day – just before the sunset. Slight delay however isn’t going to stop us from getting what we came for. When we finally reach the farm it’s only about 15-20 minutes before we loose the light. There will NOT be another chance to do this during our time with the couple – other things are already planned for remaining evenings of the four days we are to spend with them. At this point they need to get into their outfits within a few minutes and we take that time for a speedy assessment of the location, technical conditions and chronological order of the shoot. It will have to be a super fast paced shoot if we want to get more than just a few setups but it’s easy with Lindsey and Daniel – they look and act like professional models. We don’t even have to direct much – just let them be themselves. They are very in love, beautiful and handsome – completely relaxed in front of the cameras. Oh, and then there’s the one and only little dogey Caiden. He goes with them everywhere – little peanut explorer. So friendly and cool, with his own distinctive personality – he’s just there, keeping us company and doing his own thing. He says hello to a local friend in the first frame below and then, towards the end of the shoot he gets into one of Liz’s frames. We were setting this hot scene with the dark blue evening sky in the background when Caiden decided to just be in it. Lots of laughs! Overall it turns out to be an amazing shoot. Tired but happy and excited we return to the hotel with what we feel are great images on our cards, which makes us even more excited for what is yet to come.

Kudos to Liz for this impressive image (above) of Lindsey, personally I love the high fashion feel of it!

Again, Liz puts her creative spin on the following black and whites empowering the team effort with a different angle and perception:

This was just the beginning and our first night in Santa Fe. Look out for a lot more including the rehearsal dinner night and the fabulous wedding day coming to this blog soon!
