Kate + Ryan: Viva la vida loca!

The absolutely best thing about my profession is that a single phone call on a random day can change your life! Yes, really! It was that random day in May 2010… “Hi, My name is Ryan. I am a photographer in New York and I am calling to see if you can photograph my wedding in Antigua, Guatemala…”

About nine months later we find ourselves in the most inspiring location a photographer can imagine. The city of Antigua is ancient, authentic, colorful, beautiful and unique in many ways. Everywhere you turn there’s about 30 photographs waiting to be captured! Literally every corner, wall, street, block has something that catches your eye, something worth recording. You can lose your mind and die happy over there if you have any sensitivity to visual aesthetics. The local life is a celebration of saturated color, appreciation of music, a delicious mix that attacks all your senses and leaves a lasting imprint in your mind.

Now I should perhaps explain what I mean by “we”: Todd Laffler joined the team later to create a dynamic team of different shooters with quite diverse styles and ways of creating their signature images. The team worked together really well and personally I couldn’t be happier with the dynamics and cooperation we have had during the shoot. Thanks a million Todd – it truly was a great experience. The biggest Thank You however goes to Kate and Ryan for making all of this possible and revealing before us a country that rocks your world, spins you around and touches you in ways you can’t comprehend. All the wonderful people we met and spent time with during this trip: Brenna and Richard, Jennifer, Jae, Julia, Jamie and Jenny, Sarah, Anni and Chris, Jennifer and Brian – Thank You for your friendship and the best of times! This really was life changing experience for me. Guatemala… I will be back!
